Syrian Health Ministry vaccinates medical staff against coronavirus
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Health has begun to vaccinate health workers of those who want to, with the Russian Sputnik vaccine, an official at the ministry said on Wednesday.
On February 25, health personnel working in quarantine departments were vaccinated.
“The Ministry has 71 hospitals and 9 clinics distributed in all governorates to give the vaccine, in addition to 416 mobile teams in areas where there is no health center,” the official, who refused to be named, told North Press.
On May 5, the Syrian Ministry of Health launched an online platform to register those wishing to receive vaccination against coronavirus.
“The priority in vaccination is for doctors registered in public and private hospitals,” the official added.
“The sequence of vaccination process begins through the sequence of names received from the Ministry of Health, and then the elderly who, after registration through the platform, will receive a message on the mobile phone about the place and time of receiving the vaccine,” he noted.
The vaccination process is still in the first dose stage, while the second dose is expected to be given after 21 days, according to the official.
Yesterday, the Syrian Ministry of Health announced the recording of 5 deaths and 42 new infections in its areas of control.
