Turkish-backed militants throw bomb inside restaurant in Syria’s Sere Kaniye
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, three people were injured, as gunmen of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups threw a grenade at a fast food restaurant in the city of Sere kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria.
A local source told North Press that a dispute took place between the members of the Turkish-backed Hamza group and workers in a fast food restaurant in the city market, over a meal at the time of Iftar (when Muslims break the fast during Ramadan).
According to the source, the gunmen then fired bullets in the air indiscriminately, while other sources suggested that clashes occurred between members of the same group as a result of the incident.
The source mentioned that the gunmen threw a grenade into the restaurant, which caused panic among the owners of nearby stores, who closed their stores.
The explosion resulted in three injuries, including restaurant workers, in addition to significant material damage to the restaurant.
Opposition-held areas are witnessing human violations, including consecutive bombings, kidnappings of civilians and infighting.
The city of Sere Kaniye has been under the control of Turkish forces and opposition groups since the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria in October 2019.
