Government forces killed in mutual bombardment with opposition in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the de-escalation areas in Idlib, northwest Syria, witnessed a continuation of the mutual bombardment between the Syrian opposition groups and the government forces, which resulted in deaths among the latter.
Military opposition sources told north press that Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted government forces’ positions in the village of Maarzita, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells and Grad missiles.
The sources added that the targeting killed and wounded several members of the government forces and their affiliated militias.
The same sources mentioned that the Syrian opposition groups also targeted military positions of the government forces on the outskirts of the city of Kafr Nabl, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery.
The sources pointed out that the bombing came in response to the Syrian government forces’ continued ground bombing of the de-escalation areas in Zawiya Mountain and Ghab Plain areas in the Idlib and Hama governorates.
In turn, the government forces continued their artillery and missile strikes on the village of Majdalaya, east of Idlib, and the villages of Sufuhn and al-Fatira in the south of the governorate, with no casualties reported.
Since March of 2020, Idlib and parts of other governorates have been included in an agreement between Moscow and Ankara to stop hostilities in the northwest of the country.
