AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, two children died due to the explosion of a mortar in the village of Umm Howeish, 20 km west of the Turkish-held city of Tel Abyad, north Syria.
“The two children lost their lives while they were playing with the unexploded mortar which was fell on the village due to the Turkish bombing,” a military source told North Press.
The village of Umm Howeish is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition groups took control of the region of Tel Abyad after launching a military operation on October 9, 2019.
Since then, the region has been witnessing security chaos amid the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups’ inability to settle the security situation there.
