Unknowns kill, wound SDF members in Syria’s east Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, unknown attackers, who were riding a bike, killed a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) member and wounded others, in the town of Thiban, east Deir ez-Zor.
“The attackers targeted the military posts in the town with machine guns,” a military source from the town told North Press.
“Four masked persons fired at a post stationed on the main road in the town killing an SDF member and wounding three others,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the source pointed out that clashes erupted between SDF members and the unknown attackers for almost half an hour.
The armed attackers ran away leaving a bike that exploded when an SDF member got close to it, according to the source.
Since early 2021 until February, North Press has documented 66 military operations that ISIS claimed responsibility in northeast Syria, including eight in Raqqa and its ocuntryside, six in Hasakah countryside, 41 in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and 11 in both the western and northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
On Friday at dawn, with the participation of the US-led Global Coalition, the SDF managed to arrest six ISIS militants and killed an ISIS leader in al-Sabha town, east Deir ez-Zor.
