HAMA, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the city of Hama, central Syria, have complained about the practices of the government security intelligence for the third consecutive week.
The government Political Security Department raided several houses in the al-Qusour neighborhood in Hama on Monday, a local source told North Press.
Members of the government forces, equipped with military vehicles and DShKs, cordoned off the entire neighborhood and set up three checkpoints, according to the source.
The source pointed out that the checkpoints increased checks of residents of the neighborhood, searching for those who failed to join the compulsory military service.
Earlier in February, members of the Military Security Department raided houses in the Janoub al-Mala’ab neighborhood in the city of Hama after two days of anti-government graffiti in the same neighborhood.
Three weeks ago, the city of Hama witnessed an intensive deployment of security vehicles in the neighborhoods, especially at night, checking all passers-by, in addition to arresting a number of residents.
The government’s security crackdown came against the backdrop of writing anti-government slogans on the walls of a neighborhood in the city, and recently tearing up a picture of the Syrian president.
