AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – Three civilians were wounded on Sunday due to violent clashes between two groups belonging to the Jaysh al-Sharqiya opposition group in Jinderis district, north of Aleppo.
“The clashes took place on Sunday evening between a group from al-Khasham tribe, who were displaced from al-Bukamal city, and a group of people from al-Mayadin city in Deir ez-Zor, both of whom belong to Jaysh al-Sharqia,” a military source told North Press.
The source added that “the clashes happened after quarrels between the two groups’ members in front of Karam Restaurant, which belongs to some members in Jaysh al-Sharqiya.”
The source added that “machine guns and heavy weapons, mortars and RPGs were used, injuring three people as an initial toll of the armed conflict between the two groups.”
The clashes stopped after the intervention of several parties to resolve the conflict between the two groups, according to the source.
A civilian IDP from the countryside of Damascus was injured at noon in a VBIED explosion at the northern entrance to the city.
Jinderis has been under the control of Turkish-backed opposition groups since March 2018.
The Syrian opposition-held region is witnessing kidnappings and arrests accompanied by consecutive bombings in light of groups’ inability to settle the security there.
