Government bombardment wounds 4 in northwest Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, four civilians were wounded due to a government bombardment on Bara town in Zawiya Mountain region in the southern countryside of Idlib.
A field source told North Press that the government forces targeted the sites of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in Fleifel, Sufohn and Benin with artillery shells and rocket launchers.
The bombing reached residential neighborhoods in the town of Bara, wounding four people, though no causalities were reported, according to the source.
The bombing coincided with an intense flight of warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft over the airspace of the region, according to the source.
On Wednesday, a woman succumbed to her wounds due to government artillery shelling on Bara town.
The frontlines in the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria have recently witnessed military escalation between Syrian government forces and the armed groups operating in the region as part of the mutual bombardment between the two parties.
The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide for a halt to the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
