SDF member killed by unknown attackers in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed on Wednesday by unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle in the city of al-Busayrah, east of Deir ez-Zor.

Masked men riding a motorcycle shot Ayesh Ismail Eidan while he was near the garage of al-Busayrah city.

Eidan is from the town of Abriha, adjacent to al-Busayrah, and he is a fighter in the ranks of SDF, the source added.

Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing security chaos since the defeat of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the region in 2019, with explosions, ambushes, and assassination attempts targeting SDF, members of the local administration, and even tribal figures and notables.

A dignitary of the Akidat tribe was murdered along with his son and one other person when his house was stormed by unknown individuals on Sunday-Monday night in the town of Diban in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor region.

The SDF, in cooperation with the Global Coalition, has been able to arrest dozens of ISIS leaders and cells.

Both local residents and the administration blame ISIS, the Syrian government, and Iran for sowing discord and chaos in the area.
