Turkish army withdraws its 6th military post from Syria’s northwest within a month
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish armyleft a military post in the governorate of Idlib, northwestern Syria, after evacuating five other posts in the de-escalation zone.
Turkish forces evacuated a military post near Saraqib, eastern Idlib, a military source of the National Front for Liberation, told North Press.
The source confirmed that the Turkish forces transferred their equipment and soldiers towards a new established Turkish post in the village of Ruwaiha, eastern Zawiya Mountain.
Within a month, The Turkish military forces evacuated six posts that have been besieged by the government forces since the beginning of this year.
After the Syrian government forces took control over areas in the northern countryside of Hama and southern countryside of Idlib, 12 Turkish posts in the de-escalation zone were besieged.
The Turkish forces have established more than 60 military bases and posts and sent about 12,000 Turkish soldiers and thousands of military vehicles to the governorates of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia, since their military intervention in Syria, according to reports.
The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide to halt the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
In October 2017, Turkey began establishing military posts in northwestern Syria after it reached an agreement with Russia to establish a de-escalation zone.
