Syrian Opposition groups launch an offensive in Latakia mountains

Violent clashes are underway in northeastern Latakia mountains since today’s early morning, in coincidence with renewed bombardments on areas in Idlib governorate and northern Hama countryside.
As fierce clashes between the Syrian government forces and the opposition armed groups have been raging on the axes of Turkmen Mountain upon violent offensive launched by the rebel groups operating in the region in an attempt to advance and cause casualties among the government forces ranks.
According to field sources who confirmed to North-Press that the heavy fighting was accompanied by intensive shelling by the rebel groups in the area while two Syrian government’s armored vehicles were destroyed in the axis of the attack northeast Latakia.
The mutual shelling caused at least 10 deaths on both sides.
On the other hand, the Syrian government media outlets have confirmed what the opposition military room of “Rouse the Believers” had declared about the start of a military operation under the name of “Once you are in, victory will be yours” aiming to control military positions of the Syrian government forces in the coastal mountains of Latakia.
While the Syrian fighter jets raided the village of Kafr Battikh, southeast of Idlib causing injuries to 3 civilians including a child, with similar airstrikes on the towns of al-Tamanaha, Tarai and Sukayk, south of Idlib.
the Russian fighter jets targeted the village of Hassraya, northern Hama countryside, and the Syrian government targeted al-Arbaeen area in the northern countryside of Hama.
While the opposition armed groups targeted a position of the Syrian government forces in al-Hwez in Al-Ghab plain.
Last Thursday, the United Nations had accused the Syrian government forces of deliberately targeting hospitals in the northern Idlib governorate because they’d continued shelling the hospitals there; although its coordinates are shared with the parties of the conflict to be protected from attacks.
Furthermore, activists in the opposition-controlled areas had launched a campaign under the name of “Turkish guarantor is partner of Russia in killing us”.
Turkey is considered a guarantor of the de-escalation agreement in the governorates of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia, following the Astana agreement, which brought the Turkish and Russian sides together in the second half of September 2018.
