Turkish military set up a military base on Jendiris hill in Afrin amid ongoing excavations

Amid ongoing excavations in search of antiquities, Turkish military have built up a military base on the hill of the town of Jendiris in Afrin region, northwestern Syria. A local source from Afrin region told North-Press, that the Turkish military has established a military base on Jendiris hill, which is known of its height, noting that the base is heavily guarded and surrounded by observation cameras, as excavation operations continue in search of antiquities in the predominantly Kurdish region.

The source pointed out that there are members of Turkish military in the base, as well as their affiliated armed opposition groups, pointing out that the people of the region are prevented of approaching the base. The source noted that the excavations around the hill have been going on for a long time in search of antiquities.

North-Press published a footage, on Monday, showing Turkish military building a military base on Jendiris road and the village of Tal Silor, opposite to Mustafa Haj Aziz gas station in the area, where the base was built and surrounded by a cement wall, at a height of 3 meters. The Turkish military along with Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in Afrin are stationed there.

It's worth mentioning that Turkish military and its affiliated armed opposition groups took control over Afrin region on the 18th of March last year, causing the displacement of more than 350 thousand people from the region.
