Damascus receives new batch of Russian MiG-29 aircraft

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Russian embassy in Damascus announced the delivery of a new batch of MiG-29s to the Syrian government forces on Wednesday.

The Russian embassy confirmed on its Twitter account that Syrian government forces received a new batch of Russian modernized MiG-29 warplanes, "within the framework of military-technical cooperation between our countries.”

"The Syrian military has just started carrying out missions with these warplanes,” the embassy stated.

In a special ceremony held at the Hmeimim base at the end of May, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that it received a batch of MiG-29 fighter planes from Russia. It added that from the first of June, the Syrian military will begin scheduled air patrols with these planes in Syrian airspace.
