ISIS members arrested in SDF-coalition operation in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested four members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the town of al-Dashisha in the eastern countryside of Deir Ez-Zor in a wide-scale Global Coalition-backed military campaign to pursue ISIS cells.
An SDF military source told North Press that the SDF and Global Coalition launched the campaign on Thursday, and the operation is expected to continue for a week.
“The SDF, with the support of the Global Coalition, arrested four members of ISIS cells in al-Bou Hamidah village near al-Dashisha in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor on Thursday," he added.
The campaign will continue for a week to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor and the Syrian-Iraqi border regions.
The Global Coalition, which is located in several bases in North and East Syria, provides the SDF with military and logistical support, as part of international efforts to completely end Islamic State presence.
In two separate operations, SDF commandos arrested four members of ISIS cells in Deir ez-Zor on Tuesday.
The two separate operations were in the towns of al-Baghouz and al-Susah towns, each operation resulting in the arrest of two ISIS members with their weapons and ammunition.
