On Monday, the third stage of the "Stay Home" campaign has begun, which the Raqqa-based organization "Hope Makers" initiated last Thursday. The campaign includes the distribution of awareness brochures and preventative materials against the novel coronavirus, and the sterilization of mosques and schools in rural Raqqa.
The first stage of the campaign included the distribution of masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and educational brochures in the al-Khayala camp for displaced people, 18km west of Raqqa city, according to the executive director of Hope Makers Organization Mahmoud al-Hadi.
In an interview with North-Press, al-Hadi said that the second stage of the "Stay Home" campaign started last Saturday, and included carrying out awareness activities and the distribution of brochures within the markets and streets of Raqqa city, clarifying guidelines for the prevention of the new coronavirus.
As for the procedures for sterilizing mosques carried out by members of the organization in Raqqa, al-Hadi explained that over the past two days, six mosques in Raqqa city were sterilized: Ahl Badr Mosque, Saed bin Jubair Mosque, al-Ghufran Mosque, al-Fardous Mosque, Imam al-Nawawi Mosque, and Hamzah bin Abdulmuttalib Mosque.
On the 19th of this month, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced a 15-day lockdown in all its regions, starting from the 23rd of March, which can be extended, as a precautionary measure against the risks of the coronavirus epidemic.
