"We will stay as long as you need us" – Free Burma Rangers

David Eubank, director of Free Burma Rangers team, stands in front of the bullet-riddled car which was moving him a few days ago with his team on the front line between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, in the northern countryside of the town of Tal Tamr, northeastern Syria.
Eubank tells the young man next to him, "It's me who should have been dead," and talks about his friend Zau Singh who lost his life on the 3rd of November 2019, by the Turkish bombardment.

Regarding the nature of the work of "Free Burma Rangers" team, Eubank said: "We have 19 relief teams in Burma since 26 years, where there are many wars there and the central government suppressing minorities of which Kachin is one of them,  from which came Zau Singh, who was killed and we believe it was because of a Turkish drone.”
Singh funeral was along with other six SDF fighters on the 7th of November, attended by residents of the town of Derik (Malikiya), in Martyr Khabat cemetery.
"Singh’s blood is on this soil, he came because he loved the people here," Eubank added.

 

"Area of ethnic cleansing"
Eubank calls the area which Turkey plans to establish under the name of "safe zone", as "killing zone, displacement zone, ethnic cleansing zone or as people call it here, and I agree with them, the area of genocide."
As for how it happened, according to Eubank's point of view: "The matter is that the Turkish government attacked this region with the jihadists and the Free Army (FSA), how would they have been able to come if the U.S. troops remained. It said to the Kurds defended the region and we will stay here."
"This land is a land of Kurds, Arabs, Christians, Yazidis and Muslims, it is not the land of the Turks and the Free Army," he added.

 

Tal Tamr is threatened
"An end has been brought to the advancement of the jihadists of Turkey in this front, but there are tanks and jihadists, if they managed to get into the town of Tal Tamr, Kurds and Christians will be killed. This hospital which helps the whole region will be destroyed," said David Eubank, the director of Free Burma Rangers Organization, while pointing to Tal Tamr Hospital in front of him.
