Art competition on the International Day of Peacekeepers in Al-Hasaka
The “Dream-XWEN” Association, that is located in the Al-Salehiya neighborhood of Al-Hasaka, eastern Syria, held art exhibition on the occasion of the International Peacekeepers Day, on Wednesday.
The 29th May ” International Peacekeepers Day”, is to pay tribute to the contributions of those who have served in world peace-keeping, and to honor thousands of whom have lost their lives serving under the United Nations flag since 1948.
The exhibition was opened with dozens of paintings and photographs of local fans, activists and media professional that symbolize peace, and then voted by the audience on the most beautiful painting or picture.
Avinda Sheikhi, the director of Community protection enhancement at the “Dream- XWEN” Association, told North Press that the idea of the event came on the occasion of the International Day of the peacekeepers, which occurs at 29 May “to promote the idea of peace through paintings and photographs.”
Peace is a comprehensive concept “If a person with special needs was able to deal with the others, this is a kind of peace, and the presence of a Muslim in the church and the Christian in the mosque is also a kind of peace,” she said.
She also pointed out that they have enhanced the concept of peace through paintings and photographs, which focused on the idea of interfaith coexistence, with the participation of Muslims and Christians from the city.
