11k refugees have arrived in KRG since Turkish invasion in N Syria
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has said that the number of Syrian refugees who arrived in Kurdistan region of Iraq has reached 11,640 refugees, according to the statistics of the 26th of October.
The UNHCR pointed out that “Pardarash” camp has been filled, noting that the new arrivals of refugees will be placed in Koylan camp, where new tents have been installed and can accommodate up to 1,588 families.
Moreover, the UNHCR noted in a report that after Koylan camp reaches its maximum capacity, the new refugees will be placed in Karmawa camp in Duhok governorate’s countryside in Kurdistan Regional Government.
According to the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 10,699 refugees were hosted in Paradarash camp and 180 refugees in Domiz camp, where 413 refugees have left Paradarash camp, after the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) clearance of registration in UNHCR.
There are 187 families in Pardarash camp, 52% are female refugees and 48% are males, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Furthermore, UNHCR said that it was reported that travel groups had paid an average of US $ 3,140 per group to cross into Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
The number of refugees entering the Iraqi Kurdistan Region continues to rise, placing a greater burden which requires more basic needs, amid poor distribution by the U.N. organizations, which in turn, resulting in ongoing crowds inside the camp.
