Internal Security Forces Demine ISIS-Planted explosives in Hasakah

Al-Hasakah – North-Press Agency

Sources inside the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria reported that a number of mines had been dismantled on the main road between Hasakah and Al-Hol district, northeast Syria.

The sources told North-Press that they got information, on Sunday morning, about explosives alongside the road near the village of “Red Al-Shakra” of the eastern countryside of the city, which made the  Internal Security to close the road imposing a security cordon until the removal of all explosives and making sure that the area is cleansed of other mines.

The sources also indicated that ISIS sleeper cells are likely behind it, while the security forces are still investigating the incident.

As the necessary measures were taken, the road connecting Hasakah to Al-Hol area was re-opened for the passers-by, after it was closed for the early hours of this morning.

The Global Coalition backed Syrian Democratic Forces had launched since last April combing operations against ISIS sleeper cells in the southern countryside of Hasakah, and the eastern countryside of Deir Ez-Zour, in a campaign to limit the terrorist group’s attacks that target both civilians and military forces in the region.
