Al-Sharaa, Putin discuss Syria-Russia relations, bases, ports

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Kremlin on Wednesday said Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa discussed bilateral relations, the current situation and prospects for developing Syrian-Russian ties in the future.

In a statement, the Kremlin said the two sides “underscored the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding On the Reorganisation of the Khmeimim Air Base and the Tartus Material-Technical Support Point, signed on August 9.”

The statement added that Putin reaffirmed during the call “Russia’s principled position in support of Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as efforts to create conditions for lasting stability and post-conflict recovery.”
