QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Anti-Narcotics Department announced on Monday that it had seized 850,000 narcotic pills in the Rural Damascus governorate after thwarting an alleged smuggling attempt from Lebanon.
The Anti-Narcotics Department in Damascus countryside said the shipment was intercepted during a security operation in the al-Nabk area following what it described as careful surveillance and monitoring. The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect identified by the initials K.M.
Authorities said the entire shipment was confiscated, adding that investigations are continuing to identify the suspect’s accomplices and others allegedly involved before referring the case to the competent judiciary and taking the necessary legal measures.
