QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Three people were killed and two others wounded on Wednesday when a landmine from war remnants exploded under a tractor in the village of Kabina, located in the Jabal al-Akrad area of northern Latakia governorate.
Government media outlets reported that the blast struck a tractor transporting local farmers, causing the immediate deaths of three individuals and wounding two others with varying degrees of injury.
The Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate confirmed that its response teams were dispatched to the site. The injured were transported via the Badama road to a hospital in the city of Jisr al-Shughur to receive necessary medical care.
The northern countryside of Latakia governorate has repeatedly witnessed such deadly incidents due to the widespread presence of unexploded ordnance and landmines remaining from years of armed conflict.
The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, while authorities continue to record the locations of hazardous remnants in the rural areas.
