QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – One person was killed on Sunday after an explosive device detonated inside a vehicle on the Damascus–Suwayda road shortly after it left Suwayda city, Syrian state media reported.
The Syrian state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV, citing a source from the Internal Security Forces, said preliminary investigations indicated that the driver had been attempting to plant the explosive device along the public road “with the aim of undermining security and stability, spreading chaos, and disrupting movement to and from the city.”
The source added that Internal Security Forces secured the area following the explosion and began collecting evidence from the scene.
Authorities said investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify any individuals involved, and establish the parties allegedly behind the plot.
