Israeli troops conduct searches, arrest one person in Syria’s Quneitra

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Wednesday carried out incursions into several areas of southern Quneitra countryside, southern Syria, conducting search operations and detaining one person after setting up a temporary military checkpoint, before withdrawing from one area while another force entered the village of al-Mashida.

A local source told North Press that an Israeli force consisting of four military vehicles advanced along the road linking the village of al-Muallaqa and the town of Ghadeer al-Bustan in southern Quneitra.

The troops established a temporary checkpoint, stopped passersby, and detained one local resident while he was traveling through the area.

The source added that a separate Israeli patrol, comprising three military vehicles, entered an area west of the town of al-Rafid, where soldiers searched two houses. No arrests were reported during that operation before the force later withdrew.

In a related development, another Israeli military unit, consisting of more than five troop transport vehicles, entered the village of al-Mashida in southern Quneitra countryside. No confirmed reports of arrests or house raids were immediately available.

Southern Quneitra has witnessed recurring Israeli incursions in recent months, often involving searches, identity checks, and temporary detentions of local residents, raising concerns among the population about the continued military activity in the area.
