Government security forces arrest 2 suspected attackers in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Security forces of the Syrian transitional government arrested two individuals accused of carrying out attacks in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, a security source said on Tuesday.

The source told North Press that security forces conducted a “precise operation” over several days that led to the arrest of two suspects allegedly involved in attacks targeting security patrols and civilians in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

The source added that security forces are currently withholding the identities of the detainees and additional details pending the completion of the investigation and efforts to pursue other members of the group allegedly responsible for the attacks.

According to the security source, the two detainees are “remnants of the al-Assad regime” who had gone into hiding following its collapse.
