11 Australian ISIS-linked families to leave Roj Camp
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The administration of Roj Camp in the countryside of Derik (al-Malikiyah), far northeast Syria, told North Press on Monday that 11 Australian families affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) are set to leave the camp.
The families, comprising 34 individuals, will depart the camp for Damascus, where they will be received by their relatives.
Camp officials said no official statement has been issued regarding coordination with the Syrian transitional government or the Global Coalition concerning the repatriation process.
The Roj Camp administration clarified that there has been no coordination with the camp management, noting that the families of ISIS members will leave for Damascus before traveling onward to Australia.
Roj Camp houses 710 families of ISIS members, totaling 2,201 individuals from 40 different nationalities, according to camp authorities.
