ISIS claims attack on SDF vehicle in Deir ez-Zor

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility for targeting a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) military vehicle in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

In a statement published by Amaq News Agency, which is affiliated with the group, ISIS said that its militants opened fire with machine guns on an SDF vehicle last Wednesday in the town of al-Salihiyah, east of Deir ez-Zor.

According to the statement, the attack damaged the vehicle and injured the fighters inside. No further details were provided regarding the number or condition of the wounded.

The incident underscores the continued presence of ISIS cells in eastern Syria, particularly in Deir ez-Zor, where the SDF carries out regular security operations to dismantle sleeper cells and prevent attacks. The SDF, backed by the US-led Global Coalition, has maintained control over large parts of Deir ez-Zor and continues to secure areas against extremist activity.
