Jordanian army arrests 4 Syrians attempting to cross border
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian army announced on Tuesday that its border forces had arrested four Syrian nationals while attempting to illegally cross the border from Syria into Jordan.
In a statement, the army said that units from the Northern Military Region foiled the infiltration attempt within their area of responsibility.
It added that the border guards applied the rules of engagement, arresting the infiltrators before handing them over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
The army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Jordan’s borders and preventing any attempts at infiltration or smuggling.
This latest arrest follows a similar incident last week, when the Northern Military Region thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics from Syrian territory. The smuggler was arrested, and the drugs were seized and turned over to the authorities.
On Aug. 20, the Jordanian army also arrested three individuals attempting to infiltrate into Jordan from Syria through the northern border, underscoring the ongoing security challenges facing the area.
