Qamishli hosts 5th Mardutho Festival celebrating heritage
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The fifth annual Mardutho Festival began on Saturday in Qamishli, northeastern Syria, highlighting the region’s Syriac cultural heritage.
Organized by the Syriac Cultural Association in Syria in cooperation with the Autonomous Administration’s Culture Board, the festival was held at the Mar Kbriel Hall in the city.
The opening day featured performances by several musical ensembles and traditional folkloric dance groups reflecting Syriac culture and heritage.
The festival serves as an important platform for preserving and promoting Syriac language, arts, and traditions. It also fosters community engagement and intercultural dialogue, bringing together local residents, artists, and visitors to celebrate the region’s diverse heritage.
The Autonomous Administration provides an environment of cultural and religious freedoms, allowing all communities to celebrate their national and religious occasions openly and without restrictions. This atmosphere enables cultural events such as the Mardutho Festival to take place safely and inclusively.
The festival is scheduled to conclude on Sunday in the city of Hasakah, bringing together artists, cultural enthusiasts, and local communities in celebration of the region’s cultural diversity.
