Syrian president to attend UN General Assembly for first time since 1967

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian Foreign Ministry official announced on Monday that Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa will take part in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for September in New York.

According to the French news agency AFP, the official confirmed that al-Sharaa is expected to deliver a speech during the meetings.

This marks the first time since 1967 that a Syrian president will personally participate in the UN General Assembly.
