Syrian transitional president meets U.S. Congressional delegation in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa met on Tuesday with a delegation of U.S. lawmakers from both the House of Representatives and the Senate in Damascus, according to a statement from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry said the meeting was attended by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Interior Minister Anas Khattab.

This visit follows an earlier meeting on Aug. 11, when U.S. Congressman Abraham Hamadeh held talks with al-Sharaa and al-Shaibani in Damascus.

Discussions during Hamadeh’s visit focused on a range of issues aimed at promoting peace and security across Syria, with particular emphasis on protecting the rights of minorities, including Christians, Druze, Kurds, and Alawites.
