DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – U.S. Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack is scheduled to visit Israel on Wednesday to discuss recent developments in Syria and the tensions between Israel and Turkey.
Barrack’s visit comes amid a series of Israeli airstrikes on targets in Syria, which Israel said were in retaliation for two rockets fired from southern Syria that landed in the Golan Heights.
The Israeli military placed direct blame on the Syrian transitional government, stating that it bears responsibility for the current situation in Syria and will continue to bear the consequences as long as hostile activity originates from its territory.
Earlier on Wednesday, Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs questioned the Israeli account, casting doubt on the reports of rockets falling in the Golan Heights. The ministry suggested that certain actors are trying to destabilize the region and condemned the Israeli strikes on southern Syria.
