Lebanese president discusses key issues with U.S. envoy
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Lebanese Presidency announced on Saturday that President Joseph Aoun met with U.S. Deputy Special Envoy to the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, to discuss several pressing issues, including the situation in southern Lebanon and border security with Syria.
According to a statement posted on the Presidency’s official account on X (formerly Twitter), the meeting addressed a range of topics, most notably economic and financial reforms aimed at combating corruption.
The discussions also covered developments in southern Lebanon and along the Syrian border, as both sides emphasized the importance of stability and cooperation.
Ortagus began her high-stakes political visit to Lebanon by meeting with President Aoun, amid growing anticipation regarding the positions she is expected to announce later today.
Lebanese media outlets noted that the outcomes of her visit could play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of U.S.-Lebanese relations.
