ISIS Assassinates Three SDF Members in Deir ez-Zor, Eastern Syria
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) has assassinated three members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Abu Khashab, a town in western Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.
The incident highlights the group’s ongoing activity in the region, exploiting the security vacuum following the collapse of the Assad regime and the evacuation of its bases in the central Syrian desert.
The pro-ISIS Amaq News Agency reported that ISIS fighters captured three SDF members in Abu Khashab, interrogated them, and executed them.
A local source from Abu Khashab stated that the bodies of three young men were discovered early Monday morning along the town’s main road, with gunshot wounds to their heads. The victims were identified as local residents and SDF members.
Additionally, on Tuesday, an Internal Security Forces (Asayish) member, Osama al-Askar, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle in the town of Muheimida in western Deir ez-Zor.
