Airstrikes target IRGC posts in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three airstrikes struck late on Sunday positions linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
According to a military source, two of the strikes targeted IRGC posts that the Iranian-backed Afghan Liwa Fatemiyoun had been attempting to reoccupy after evacuating them in the village of al-Heri in Abu Kamal countryside.
The source also added that a third airstrike hit a hill in the city of al-Jalaa where the Liwa Fatemiyoun has established a presence.
According to the source, an airstrike and artillery fire targeted an IRGC patrol near al-Rahba Castle on the outskirts of the al-Mayadin Desert. These attacks resulted in casualties and injuries, though specific numbers remain unclear.
Additionally, the source noted that dozens of artillery shells struck the seven villages, which are on the eastern side of the Euphrates under Iranian control, though the outcomes of the shelling have not yet been determined.
For the past two days, areas in the west of the Euphrates River witness heightened alertness and increased military movements by Iranian-backed militias, particularly around the Deir ez-Zor military airbase.
