Iranian-backed militias establish new posts in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Iranian-backed militias affiliated with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) resumed on Sunday establishing new posts in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source revealed that the IRGC has set up four new military posts in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor along the banks of the Euphrates River.
The main posts are located in the village of al-Dwair and additional posts established in al-Mayadin, Sabikhan, and al-Quriyah.
This comes after recent Israeli and U.S. airstrikes compelled them to evacuate many of their previous positions in the area.
The source told North Press that the Iranian-backed al-Baqir Brigade has also set up two posts in the town of al-Asharah following the recent completion of a training course for its militants.
Meanwhile, the Afghan Liwa Fatemiyoun fortified its presence by establishing new military points in the desert of al-Mayadin and repositioning its forces.
