Russia establishes 9 observation posts in southern Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Russian forces reinforced on Monday their presence in southern Syria by establishing joint observation posts with Syrian government forces in the Quneitra and Daraa governorates.

In a press statement, General Aleksandar Rodionov, deputy commander of Russian forces in Syria, said that his country’s forces, in coordination with the Syrian government forces, established nine observation posts along the demilitarized zone.

This move follows reports of recent Russian troop withdrawals from some bases in southern Syria.

Meanwhile, Israel has been active near the Golan Heights, with occasional artillery strikes, raising concerns among analysts about the potential expansion of conflict into southern Syria.

Rodionov added that his country’s forces have not withdrawn from any post in this area but have instead strengthened their presence through these observation posts.
