CENTCOM conducts strikes against Iran-backed militias in Syria

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday that it conducted multiple strikes in Syria against Iranian-backed militias, following attacks on U.S. personnel.

In an official statement, CENTCOM confirmed it struck nine targets across two sites associated with Iranian-backed militias.

The strikes were in response to recent attacks on U.S. personnel in Syria over the last 24 hours.

On Monday night, three militants of Iranian-backed militias were killed, and at least eight others were injured, in airstrikes targeting posts of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in al-Quriyah and al-Mayadin in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

CENTCOM emphasized that these strikes aim to reduce the capabilities of Iranian-backed militias to plan and execute further attacks on U.S. and Global Coalition forces, who remain in the region to counter the Islamic State (ISIS).

CENTCOM Commander Michael Kurilla stated, “Our message is clear. Attacks against U.S. and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated.”

“We will continue to take every step necessary to protect our personnel and coalition partners and respond to reckless attacks,” Kurilla added.
