Government forces escalate attacks on northwest Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces escalated on Friday at night their shelling on areas in northwestern Syria, causing extensive material damage in the affected areas.

Three militants from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as the al-Nusra Front) were injured in suicide drone attacks targeting several of their posts in northwestern Syria, amid continued artillery and rocket exchanges between the opposing parties.

Opposition media reported that after midnight on Friday, the government forces launched rocket attacks on neighborhoods in the town of Sarmin, east of Idlib.

These attacks caused damage to the town’s health center, although no casualties were reported.

The opposition media added that the shelling on Sarmin coincided with similar attacks on residential neighborhoods in the city of al-Atarib, west of Aleppo.

The bombardment on al-Atarib continued until dawn, igniting a fire in one of the residential buildings.
