Shelling targets posts of Iranian-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Shelling from an unknown source hit on Friday several posts of the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias across the countryside of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria.
A military source from the government forces in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that artillery shells landed near a military base belonging to the Division 17 in the village of Jaffra in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor city, resulting in material damage.
The source added that other shells struck posts of Iranian-backed militias and the government forces surrounding the Deir ez-Zor military airbase and the town of Harabesh. However, no casualties have been confirmed so far.
Additionally, the source confirmed that artillery fire targeted government positions in the villages of Khsham, al-Tabiyyah, and Marrat.
A missile platform, which had been relocated earlier on Friday to an elementary school in the eastern part of Khasham, was also hit.
The shelling caused material damage to all the targeted locations.
