Israeli airstrike kills soldier in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli airstrike killed on Wednesday a Syrian soldier in the countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.
A local source said an Israeli drone targeted the al-Alam Roundabout near the city of Quneitra, resulting in the killing of the Syrian soldier, Adham Jakhout, and wounding another.
The attack coincides with the ongoing military escalation between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah that began in mid-September.
The targeted area is near the Israeli border and is located near the eastern entrance to destroyed city of Quneitra, which is situated in a high valley on the Golan Heights.
Moreover, both soldiers were serving compulsory military service with the General Intelligence Directorate in Quneitra.
Early October, Israeli artillery targeted two locations in the same area, though no casualties or material damage were reported at the time.
