Body of government military personnel found in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Locals found on Thursday the body of a member of the Military Security Branch of the Syrian government forces in the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that residents found the body of Omar al-Ali with visible gunshot wounds in the east of the village of Jaddel in the northeast of Daraa.
The source said that al-Ali works within a group affiliated with the Military Security Branch of the government forces in Daraa, and leads a gang that carries out kidnapping for ransom and car theft.
Daraa experiences a state of insecurity as frequent incidents of killings occur without any specific party claiming responsibility for these attacks.
On May 19, unknown gunmen shot to death two members serving in the Military Security Branch in the northern countryside of Daraa.
The source added that al-Ali was involved in the kidnapping of a child named Rami al-Mufalani in Lajat area in the east of Daraa in February. This incident caused popular anger, leading prominent tribal figures to take action. Later, local armed groups found al-Mufalani.
