Unknown gunmen kill Hezbollah-linked individual in Syria’ Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen shot to death on Wednesday a person close to the Lebanese Hezbollah in the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that unknown gunmen killed Awad Ahmad al-Masa’eed, who is considered one of the prominent figures involved in drug smuggling for the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The source said the targeting took place on the road linking the two villages of al-Taebah and the al-Mataaiyah in the east of Daraa.
He added that al-Masa’eed has deep ties with te leadership of the Lebanese Hezbollah and he was serving in it.
The killed was kidnapped about 18 months ago and was released in exchange for a large ransom, the source noted.
The Lebanese Hezbollah has been recruiting and attracting dozens of people in Daraa since 2018 to enhance its acts of smuggling of narcotics especially towards Jordan, according to the source who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons.
Southern governorates of Daraa, Suwayda and Quneitra experience a state of insecurity as frequent incidents of killings occur without any specific party claiming responsibility for these attacks.
