Syria says it responded to Israeli missiles

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Ministry of Defense stated that on Tuesday dawn it responded to Israeli airstrikes that targeted military posts in Rif Dimashq Governorate in southern Syria, and dropped some Israeli missiles.

Local media outlets reported that there were Israeli airstrikes on posts in the countryside of the city of Yabrud in Rif Dimashq Governorate, southern Syria, without providing more details.

The ministry briefly commented on the attack, stating that around 02:10 AM on Tuesday, Israel launched an aerial attack from the direction of Golan Heights, targeting several military posts in Rif Dimashq.

The ministry added that their forces managed to drop some of the missiles. The attack caused material losses, according to the ministry.

Israel continues launching airstrikes on points in Syria. The strikes have been intensified since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7. Israel claims that the strikes target weapons warehouses linked to Iranian-backed militias.

On March 17, Syria’s state-run news agency of SANA cited a military officer as saying that the government forces successfully intercepted and shot down a number of missiles that were launched by Israel from the Golan Heights and injured a soldier.
