Asayish member killed, another injured in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – One member of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) was killed while another was injured on Saturday in an attack by unknown gunmen in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source from the Asayish in Deir ez-Zor told North Press, “Two unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle targeted two Asayish members inside a grocery store near their workplace at the checkpoint of Hinkar in the town of Abu Hardoub, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.”
The source added that the attack resulted in the killing of 31-year-old Asayish member Hussam al-Ali and the injury of 28-year-old Muhsen al-Ghadeer. Both were members of the Asayish command center in the city of Hajin in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
Al-Ghadeer was transported to al-Gaysoum Hospital in Hajin, and his condition is stable, the source said citing a doctor at the hospital.
The source also stated that the two attackers fled the scene and have not been apprehended yet.
