Unknown aircraft hit IRGC weapons warehouses in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified aircraft targeted on Tuesday weapons and ammunition warehouses used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A military source in the IRGC in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that unidentified aircraft targeted a weapons and ammunition warehouse in the village of Sukkariya in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor, completely destroying the warehouse.
The source said that the airstrikes targeted two weapons warehouses in the town of Abu Kamal, one near Aisha Hospital and one on the Syrian-Iraqi border. The airstrikes resulted in their complete destruction.
Meanwhile, the IRGC prevented the movement of military vehicles and evacuated its posts, in addition to hiding among houses of civilians for fear of recurrence of airstrikes, according to the source.
On Monday, forces of the U.S.-led Global Coalition and Iranian-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor traded fire.
A source in the Coalition’s base at the Conoco gas field in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that three rocket barrages targeted the base, adding that most of the rockets were intercepted.
