Coalition, Iranian militias exchange attacks in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, mutual bombardment broke out between forces of the U.S.-led Global Coalition and Iran-backed militias in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A source from the U.S.-led Coalition’s base at the Conoco gas field in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that three rocket barrages targeted the base, adding that most of the rockets were intercepted and that the attacks are still ongoing.
A military source from the government forces in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that multiple blasts were heard near the Deir ez-Zor military airport, which is under the control of Iranian-backed militias, as a result of airstrikes by the Coalition. However, it remains unclear whether there were any casualties or material damage.
The source added that the Coalition’s airstrikes also targeted military posts of Iran-baked militias in the town of Khsham in eastern Deir ez-Zor, as well as a military base of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the town of al-Mayadin in the same region, resulting in material damage.
