German court jails Syrian for life over ISIS-inspired knife attacks
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A German court convicted on Tuesday a Syrian man for committing two knife attacks inspired by the Islamic State (ISIS) in Germany in 2022.
The Associated Press (AP) reported that the Duesseldorf state court sentenced the 27-year-old man, identified only as Maan D. to life in prison.
The Syrian man was convicted of killing a man,35, by stabbing him with a kitchen knife in April and assaulting four people at a gym nine days later with the same knife.
The court said the man began to be radicalized online by ISIS ideology in 2020 after arriving in Germany as a refugee in 2015.
He showed no remorse and is determined to kill more people he considers “infidels,” according to the court.
The court ruled he was a danger to the public and will not be eligible for release after 15 years as is usually the case in Germany.
