ISIS claims attack on SDF fighters in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North press) – On Monday, the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for targeting a military vehicle of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in western Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

ISIS-linked Amaq News Agency stated that ISIS militants targeted with machine guns an SDF vehicle on the main road between the villages of As-Sawa and Zughair in the al-Kasrah district on Dec. 7. The attack resulted in at least one injury.

Earlier, an IED exploded with an SDF military vehicle on the Laiz-Gharanij road in eastern Deir ez-Zor, but no casualties were reported.

On Sunday, ISIS also claimed responsibility for attacking an SDF checkpoint in the village of Hawaij in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
