Damascus faces increasing electricity rationing as winter arrives
DAMASCUS, Syria (North press) – Since the start of the current week, electricity rationing in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and its countryside has intensified, aligning with the onset of the winter season.
Most of Syrian government-held areas are experiencing severe power rationing, with government officials attributing the reasons to a shortage of oil supplies.
Many residents told North Press the hours of electricity rationing have recently escalated. In certain neighborhoods, the power cuts now last up to seven hours for every hour of electricity supply.
The sources further highlighted that in certain parts of the countryside, electricity is only available for a mere half an hour every 10 hours.
Residents in areas such as Ruken al-Din and al-Adawi in the city center have reported that they are currently experiencing only one hour of electricity supply for every eight hours of power cuts since the start of this week.
